No prior knowledge necessary.
All ages (8+) welcome (Alcohols will only be offered as a flavouring for those aged 18 and above.)
Length of workshop: 2 hour (approx.)
Location: This workshop will be hosted at The Chocolate Shed, Yew Tree Farm Shopping Village, Wootton Wawen, B95 6BY.
Dive in to a world of chocolate with our two hour 'Discovery
Truffles' chocolate making workshops.
The session will start with a brief chat about participants chocolate making experiences and goals and set out a plan for the workshop including a forum for questions for our team of chocolatiers. During the workshop, each participant will be guided through the process of making approximately twenty individually hand rolled chocolate truffles, which they can take home packaged in a professional looking, raffia-tied, clear Natureflex (plant-based, compostable) bag. There will be lots of opportunities along the way to sample, taste and share ideas.
What will I create?
During this workshop, guests will create approximately 20 chocolate truffles, comprising of at least two different flavours.
What chocolate making skills are covered?
This workshop is aimed to give participants the skills and confidence that they need to make basic ganache mixes from scratch at home using readily available ingredients and to experiment with flavour within chocolate centres, not only during the workshop itself but as a platform for experimenting when you get back home.
For those already familiar with making a ganache the workshop offers a great platform for experimenting with flavour combinations, learning new finishing techniques and problem solving.
Do we need to bring anything with us?
No, everything (tutition and materials) will be provided on the day, including an apron. We do recommend however that you don't wear your finest clothes, just in case there is a spillage.
Soft drinks (tea, coffee, squash, water) are available on request, but feel free to bring a bottle along (or any other beverage/food) to enjoy during the workshop (you may also wish to bring your own glasses if you do as we are only able to provide plastic tumblers as glass is not permitted in the back kitchen area of our workshop).
Can you recommend a place to have lunch/dinner before/after the workshop?
Why not make a day of your visit to The Chocolate Shed? We are located in a beautiful part of the Warwickshire countryside. At Yew Tree Farm Shopping Village there is a lovely array of independent shops and businesses, including The Cowshed cafe (open for lunch) and Yew Tree Farm Shop (excellent take-aways and snacks). Alternatively we recommend The Navigation Inn or Bull's Head in Wootton Wawen or the short trip to either Henley in Arden or Stratford upon Avon, where there is a wide choice of excellent restaurants.
I am allergic to ....
Unless requested in advance, all participants will be using milk and white chocolate and creating cream-based ganache. We can accommodate most special dietary requirements but will need at least a weeks notice to ensure suitable alternative ingredients are available. (For example, if we know in advance, dark chocolate and a oat-based-cream substitute can be provided for those on lactose-free or vegan diets.)
Please note, all our chocolate contains SOY lecithin- a key ingredient which helps impart its smooth, melt-in-the-mouth flavour and texture.
If you have any concerns please contact us prior to booking.
Can a friend/partner come along and watch?
The price is inclusive of one person. Due to space limitations we request that only those for whom a space has been reserved attend.
What age range is this suitable for?
All ages are welcome to attend the workshop, although we find that children need to be aged 8 and above to get the most out of the session. We also request that those aged 8-16 are accompanied by an adult who is also participating in the session.
What happens next?
After booking, one of our team will be in touch before your workshop with a health and safety form for the attendees to complete. This is just to ensure that our staff are aware of any allergies or relevant medical conditions so that the session is safe as well as lots of fun!
We reserve the right to cancel workshops at short notice (at least 7 days notice will be given) should the minimum required attendees not be reached. Purchased tickets can be transferred to alternate events or refunded should a suitable alternative event not be found.
