Workshop Bookings for group and private workshops

We are delighted that you are considering booking a The Chocolate Shed chocolate making workshop.  We look forward to welcoming you to our workshop for lots of chocolate fun and learning.

Please read The Chocolate Shed coronavirus policy here.
In particular, following Public Health England Guidelines, we ask anyone or member of their household (workshop participant or accompanying parent/carer) who has experienced a fever or continuous, persistent cough in the last 14 days not to attend.  Guests exhibiting these symptoms will be asked to leave by The Chocolate Shed staff.  Please contact us as soon as possible if this applies to you.

Terms of Booking

Obviously as a food establishment we take food and customer safety really seriously and, as such, we have a couple of rules regarding the health and well being of all workshop participants.

We politely request that no guest attend our workshop if they or a member of their immediate family for which they provide care has suffered symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting in the 48 hours preceding the workshop or fever (high temperature), continuous persistent cough or symptoms potentially caused by a contagious illness such as coronavirus in the 7 days prior to the event or if they are awaiting the results of a coronavirus test or have a received a positive test result in the last 14 days. Please contact us if this applies to you and we will discuss the best option regarding your booking.

We take allergies and intolerances very seriously. We are able to cater for most food allergies and intolerances if we are notified about them at least seven days prior to the workshop taking place. We ask party organisers to request their guests (or the parents of their guests if under 18) to complete a form prior to attending the workshop confirming if they have any allergies, intolerances or medical conditions of which we need to be aware.

We routinely use ingredients containing soy, milk, wheat and occasionally nuts within our workshop space. We also use other ingredients containing different allergens on a more occasional basis. Although we take all necessary and thorough precautions, we can not rule out the possibility of trace contamination.  Hence please speak to us prior to booking, especially if you are aware of a guest with a highly sensitive condition.  We'll be happy to discuss your specific needs to ensure that the workshop is safe for all participants.

Parking is available on site. For workshops taking place during working hours (10-5 Tuesday to Sunday) car parking is available in the main car park at the back of the site signposted from the main entrance off Pettiford Lane. For disabled visitors and outside of office hours parking is available in the yard immediately outside the Chocolate Shed. To access this simply turn left and follow the road around in to the yard on entry.

Please be aware that the building is old with low beams which taller guests (5 foot 10 and above) may find inconvenient and the yard is uneven in places so trip hazards are present. Access to the Chocolate Shed is up a low step (about three inches). Assistance is available for those arriving who require the use of a wheelchair.

Toilet facilities are available in a nearby building including accessible toilets for visitors to the site.

Payment Terms

A 25% deposit is required to secure your booking and to secure the date of your workshop. Payment of this deposit is due within seven days of the date of the invoice. If payment is not made within this seven day period the date may be opened up to another person or group. The balance of the invoice is due to be paid in cleared funds seven days before the date of the workshop.

Full Cancellation

If for any reason you do need to cancel the workshop for any reason the following terms will apply.

All workshop bookings for private individuals can be cancelled at any time and for any reason within 14 days of the date that the booking was made and up to 28 days before the date on which the workshop is due to take place. For cancellation in these circumstances a full refund will be given less a £20 administration fee to cover transaction fees and administration costs.

For cancellation between 27 and 7 days before the workshop is due to take place a full refund will be given less a £30 administration fee to cover transaction fees, staffing and administration costs.

Less than 7 full days before the workshop is due we are unable to offer a refund. An alternative date may be offered at our sole discretion. If the date of the booking is changed a £20 alteration fee will be charged.

If the workshop is cancelled by us for any reason a full refund will be given or an alternative date offered. If a workshop or event cannot go ahead due to any kind of major incident out of our control or on the advice of Public Health England or any other governing body then alternative dates will be offered.

These terms do not affect your statutory rights.

If you are unable to attend due to illness please contact us to discuss options as we are unable to allow guests with certain illnesses to participate in our workshops.

Changes in numbers of workshop participants

For a change in the number of places at a workshop.

We do our very best to be as flexible as possible and understand that things do change at short notice. It is usually very simple for us to add on an extra place.

If you have less guests than originally anticipated up to seven days before the date of the workshop numbers can be amended in either direction and a refund / alternative offered for those places down to our minimum numbers*. Less than seven full days before the date of the workshop reductions to the number of participants can be made down to our minimum numbers* but will be subject to an administration fee of £15.

If you are unable to attend due to illness please contact us to discuss options as we are unable to allow guests with certain illnesses to participate in our workshops.

For places on our Workshop Series Workshops

For all workshop bookings there is a fourteen day cancellation period during which a full refund will be given less a transaction charge of 5% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellation after this date you can elect to transfer your space to an alternative workshop or to receive a partial refund up to 14 days before the workshop is due to take place.  Less than 14 days before the workshop is due to take place a refund or alternative place may be offered at our sole discretion.

If you are unable to attend due to illness please contact us to discuss options as we are unable to allow guests with certain illnesses to participate in our workshops.

*For children's parties minimum numbers are eight, teen parties have a minimum number of 6 and adult group bookings are prices on a minimum of 10.
